CAIRO, Egypt -- Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak has stepped down from power, “relinquishing power after three decades of iron-clad rule in the powerhouse nation of the Arab world”, CNN reports.
The announcement was made by Vice President Omar Suleiman on the state television. Mr. Suleiman declared that “he was transferring authority to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to run the affairs of the country."
